JSON to CSV Converter
Export JSON records as delimited text for data imports. Choose your separator, review quoted fields, and copy or download UTF-8 CSV.
Need a named worksheet and typed cells? Download JSON as Excel XLSX.
2 rows · 3 columns. Preview shows up to 20 rows; output includes all rows.

How to convert JSON to CSV
- Paste a JSON object or array, or drop a UTF-8 JSON file.
- Choose your delimiter and export options.
- Review the table, then copy or download the CSV.
JSON to CSV example
Each object becomes one row. A name containing a comma is quoted so it remains a single field.
[{"id":1,"name":"Alice"},{"id":2,"name":"Bob, Jr."}]
id,name
1,Alice
2,"Bob, Jr."CSV does not carry JSON types or nested structure. Null and empty strings share an empty-field representation, and nested values remain text when converted back.
Prepare CSV for a database or application import
Match the separator expected by the receiving application: comma for CSV, tab for tab-delimited imports, or semicolon and pipe where required. The first record contains column names collected from all JSON objects.
If a field contains a separator, line break, or quote, the exporter quotes the entire field and doubles embedded quotes. Multiline text remains one field even though it spans several visible lines.
Downloads use UTF-8 and CRLF record endings. Keep the BOM option for Excel imports or turn it off if your receiving system expects text without a BOM. Copied output does not include the download BOM.
CSV output or an Excel workbook?
CSV carries text fields without worksheet names, cell styles, or explicit data types. Use JSON to Excel for an XLSX file with numeric and boolean cells. Use CSV to JSON to inspect delimited records before importing them into your application.
Frequently asked questions
What JSON can I convert to CSV?
Use a single object or a non-empty array of objects. The union of top-level keys becomes the header row. Missing values and null become empty CSV fields. Nested objects and arrays become JSON text inside a cell.
How are commas, quotes, and line breaks handled?
Fields containing the selected delimiter, double quotes, or line breaks are enclosed in double quotes. Quotes inside a field are doubled. Exported records use CRLF line endings. Choose comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe as the delimiter.
Can I open the CSV in Excel?
Yes. Downloads include a UTF-8 BOM by default to help Excel recognize Unicode text. If columns appear combined, import the file with the matching delimiter. For typed cells and a named worksheet, use JSON to Excel instead.
Why do some values have an extra apostrophe?
The formula-like text option prefixes strings beginning with formula markers with an apostrophe, including headers. This changes the exported text. Turn it off when you need exact strings for another data system. Numeric values, including negative numbers, are unaffected.
What are the conversion limits?
Input is limited to 10 MB, 10,000 data rows, and 200 columns. Conversion runs locally without uploading data. Store long numeric identifiers as JSON strings to avoid precision loss.
